Saafir dead: Rapper and Menace to Society actor dies aged 56 as hip hop star pal Xzibit says his ‘soul is crushed’

At the age of 54, Rapper Saafir passed away.

The celebrity, whose real name was Reggie Gibson, was well-known for his unique voice and jazz-influenced manner.

Saafir has had to use a wheelchair due to a number of health issues in recent years.

Xzibit, a devastated fellow rapper, paid a heartfelt homage to Saafir on Tuesday morning, saying, “My soul is crushed.”

He wrote: “Although I’m shocked that I’m writing this now, I’m at a loss for what to do right now.

“My brother Reggie, also known as Saafir, died this morning at around 8:45 a.m.

We have so much history together that I am at a loss for words. We surrounded him and expressed our affection for him.

“He may finally relax.

“The family truly needs support during this time, so if you could be so strong and reach out to @chopblack, his younger brother, and @lilsaafir, his son, we would be grateful, friends, family, and everyone who rocked with us from the hip-hop community.

That’s all I got at the moment. My spirit is crushed.

Saafir, a native of Oakland, California, made his recording debut in 1993 and rose to prominence in West Coast Rap very fast.

After that, he decided to pursue acting and landed a part in the crime classic Menace II Society.
