Samsung users must prepare phones for major free upgrade as Galaxy S25 set to launch in hours
Users of Samsung smartphones should be ready for a significant, free update that will include some fascinating new capabilities.
Tomorrow, January 22, the South Korean tech giant is anticipated to introduce a brand-new Galaxy S25 series, but current Galaxy users won’t be left behind.
Samsung is constantly working on updating One UI, its Android OS.
One UI 7, the upcoming version that is most likely to appear on the Galaxy S25 series, has been undergoing testing.
Although the initial round of beta testing began in December, the company has now verified that the upcoming edition is “stable” and prepared for distribution.
Although the process is typically pushed out by device and country, it is unclear when the Android upgrade will be available.

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S24 will undoubtedly be among the first after the S25 because it is extremely likely that the newer your device is, the higher up the pecking order it will be.
There have been some rumors regarding the features of Samsung’s upcoming Android 15 version, but following last year’s significant shift, it is probably going to emphasize more AI technologies.
A new Now Bar that displays important information on your screen without requiring you to open any apps is one verified feature.
As AI becomes a companion and learns your unique life routines, innovation that is straightforward, approachable, and has practical applications will prevail, Annika Bizon, a director for Samsung UK & Ireland, recently told The Sun.
“An excellent illustration of this in practice is the Now Bar feature that will be included in our upcoming Galaxy devices.
It gathers your most frequently used apps and daily activities into a single area.
“With just one handy access point, you’ll be able to manage entertainment, find directions to your upcoming meeting, or begin speaking different languages.
“We have pledged to make AI as widely accessible as feasible since we recognize that accessibility is a barrier to AI adoption.
“We now have over 4 million people actively using Galaxy AI in the UK and are proud to be rolling out AI features into our wider computing range including the Galaxy Book5 Pro and Galaxy Book5 360 at CES.”
On Wednesday, starting at 6 p.m. UK time/1 p.m. ET, Samsung will introduce the newest Galaxy smartphone devices during an event in San Jose.
The likelihood of a Galaxy S25 small is the second significant rumor that fans are eager to learn about.
Preparing your phone for updates
Advice from Jamie Harris, The Sun’s assistant editor of technology and science
Make sure your smartphone is up to date, regardless of whether it’s a Samsung model or one made by another firm.
First of all, it’s a good idea to have backup copies of your information and pictures on hand in case something goes wrong. This is also a very common practice for daily use.
However, it’s also important to note batteries.
When the update arrives, your phone will require at least 20% of its battery to install, so be sure you have enough power to do so.
Make sure you don’t have too much storage space because the hefty download file will also require some more space.
Wi-Fi is a faster option than data for downloading these kinds of updates because it won’t use up all of your data.
