Overview:
Since they have been in use for some time, the number of events has even risen to 368 percent as compared to four years ago. A suspected criminal pair is currently stealing from customers and companies by setting up skimmers in three different establishments.
What they’re saying:
According to Detroit police, the suspects are shown in the above photo. They tell FOX 2 that they have been planting skimmers all over the place that will steal your credit card and debit card details and cause identity theft.
Three Save A Lot locations—one on 8 Mile near Lasher, another on Gratiot by Mt. Elliot, and a third in Conner near Warren—have reportedly been targeted since the start of their rampage, according to the police. According to the chain of stores, they were swiftly found and taken out.
Criminals typically travel in pairs, and it just takes a few seconds for them to put on a skimmer. If necessary, one would divert workers while the other would install the skimmer.
Experts advise using your chip or tapping to pay instead of swiping your cards to prevent falling prey to a skimmer.
By using these approaches, cardholder info is not taken into the machine.
With your bank or credit union, set your fraud alerts to the most critical settings.
Call the Detroit police if you know the two males in the above photo.
