Search for missing Warren mother: Family seeks help after disappearance

With the exception of texting her sister to let her know she was returning from a beauty supply store, Ashley never received a response to her mother Monika Elkins’ numerous phone calls or texts.

(FOX 2) Warren, Mich.A woman from Warren went missing after running errands, and her family is requesting assistance in finding her.

Ashley Elkins, a 30-year-old mother of two and hairstylist, was last seen on January 2nd, when she left her house to conduct errands.

With the exception of texting her sister to let her know she was returning from a beauty supply store, Ashley never received a response to her mother Monika Elkins’ numerous phone calls or texts.

Her family claims that Ashely’s cell phone pinging at a Roseville home where her ex-boyfriend resides is what happened when they attempted to reach her.

According to Ashley’s uncle, attorney Maurice Morton, the family is assisting the authorities in their search for Ashley.

“We re asking the media and, more importantly, we’re asking the police to take this seriously,” he stated.

The family feels that missing cases involving Black and brown people don’t receive the same level of attention as other cases.

“We don t want to make this about race, but it’s often, it s a little too common theme when it comes to missing black or brown women.”

According to Warren police, investigators have searched a number of local businesses for footage that could help identify Elkins’ whereabouts.

The Warren Police Department is asking anyone with information to get in touch.

“I need everybody all over Detroit, all over wherever, like all over Michigan to come out and help me search for her,” Monika added.
