Senator TIM SCOTT Dodges Questions on TRUMP’s FBI Raid Claims Amid VP Speculation

Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) avoided answering a question on Sunday about former President Trump’s false claims that he was in imminent danger during the FBI raid on his Florida home last year. This statement comes as the South Carolina Republican hopes to be the former president’s running mate in the next November election.

In a recent remark, Trump claimed that the FBI was fully prepared to catch him when searching his Mar-a-Lago home for secret documents. However, the Department of Justice and Democrats quickly condemned these remarks.

Scott was asked about the language issue during a Sunday “State of the Union” appearance with CNN’s Dana Bash. However, he did not directly answer the question. Bash reminded out that President Biden had faced a similar predicament with sensitive materials.

Attorney General Merrick Garland called Trump’s remarks from last week “extremely dangerous.” Garland underlined that Trump was simply stating the regular FBI policy on searches.

Bash prodded Scott for a reaction, citing words made by former Trump adviser Steve Bannon, who described the inquiry as an “assassination attempt.” Scott avoided the question yet again.

Scott attacked the judicial system’s handling of Joe Biden, citing fear that his age and fading memory would prevent him from standing before a jury of his peers. He underlined that this type of judicial system does not meet the aspirations of American citizens.

“It’s incredibly challenging to witness the current justice system that appears to be biased against both Donald Trump and Republicans,” he said. “It’s outrageous that Joe Biden and his family have been treated with child gloves and safeguarded. We all want fairness, especially when it comes to Lady Justice wearing a blindfold. Unfortunately, Dana, we are not witnessing that fairness.

Republicans, under Trump, routinely claim that the Department of Justice is biased in its treatment of Democrats. However, it is worth mentioning that federal indictments have been issued against members of the Democratic party, including Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Representative Henry Cuellar (D-Texas).

Scott is being considered as a finalist for Trump’s vice presidential nominee. Scott, who was once Trump’s primary adversary, has now become one of his most vociferous media backers. He often appears on Sunday shows to defend the previous president.
