Shoppers praise 11 retailers staying open this Thanksgiving – but Walmart and Target aren’t aren’t on the list
Now that the holidays are here, people are hurrying to their favorite businesses to get necessities before the festivities start.
Americans may need to modify their shopping plans as they get ready for Thanksgiving in the coming days.
In observance of the national holiday, which falls on November 28 this year, several well-known stores across the country will close their doors.
According to Los Angeles NBC affiliate KNBC, at least 11 are still open to service consumers seeking last-minute supplies for a celebratory meal, an early start on Christmas presents, or any necessities.
The following stores will be open on Thanksgiving: Bass Pro Shops, Big Lots, Cabela’s, CVS, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Kroger, Meijer, Starbucks, Walgreens, and Whole Foods.
It’s crucial to remember that a lot of stores are still posting their holiday hours and open/close times.

The majority of the eleven establishments on the list have also changed their hours; some are now open later, some are shutting earlier, or both.
Additionally, hours may vary from one state to another.
Only Walgreens locations that are open twenty-four hours a day will be open on Thanksgiving; those that are open during regular business hours will be closed.
Additionally, each Starbucks and Whole Foods location will have a different open or closed status.
Before Thanksgiving, customers should make sure the hours at their closest location are correct by calling or using a shop finder tool.
Some people who want to take advantage of Walmart and Target’s early Black Friday offers on Thanksgiving will have to wait.
EMPLOYEES HONORED
The two retail behemoths join a long line of businesses that close all of their stores for the day so that their staff members may spend time with their loved ones.
Since all of Walmart’s more than 4,000 US shops have closed for just the fifth consecutive year, this decision was reached relatively recently.
It had been in business since the 1980s and remained open until the peak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, offering Americans groceries and other goods.
The company chose to close on Thanksgiving and Christmas each year out of respect after witnessing employees come in and help customers during a crisis so consistently and diligently.

“We want you to enjoy the day at home with your loved ones,” Walmart US president and CEO John Furner told USA Today in response to a question regarding the choice.
In a news statement earlier this month, Target shared a similar attitude.
“Target stores will once again be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28, to provide team members with the opportunity to spend time with family and friends,” the press release stated.
“Target’s commitment to close stores on Thanksgiving in its fifth consecutive year is made possible thanks to its team and ability to meet consumers’ holiday needs within and well beyond store hours.”
