Sir Chris Hoy to make emotional appearance at major sporting event after terminal cancer diagnosis
Next month, when he presents the Ballon d Art at Ally Pally, Sir Chris Hey will make an emotional presence.
Paddy Power has invited the 48-year-old Scotsman, who is near death, to the 2024–25 PDC World Darts Championship final on Friday, January 3.
The player who throws the most 180s over the 16-day competition will get the trophy from the six-time Olympic champion cyclist.
A second scan revealed primary cancer in his prostate that had spread to his bones after a tumor was discovered in his shoulder last year.

He revealed in February that he was receiving chemotherapy as part of his treatment, but in October he revealed that the cancer was stage four.

In an effort to increase awareness of the 30-second online risk checker, he is participating in the BIGGER 180 campaign, which is being organized in collaboration with Prostate Cancer UK.
By the end of the Worlds, it is hoped that over 180,000 men will have acted before it’s too late.
“This isn’t about medals or records,” stated Hoy, who recently participated in a charity cycling journey in Cambodia. The goal is to save lives.
