Sky’s secret new remote tricks unlock more favourite TV shows even faster – and the kids will love them too
To help you locate your favorite shows even more quickly, SKY has introduced a ton of additional terms to its voice-activated remote control.
Megafans of television can already use famous terms to find popular shows.
However, the broadcaster has added a few more after studying the most popular phrases of the year.
After the competition show, which was hosted by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney, returned to BBC One this year, “Gladiators ready” topped the list.
And pressing that button on the Sky remote will bring up episodes right now.
You might also say “I am a Faithful” for The Traitors, which came in second.
“With many contemporary and timeless quotes from shows making their way into our lexicon and social media feeds, television plays a significant role in shaping our cultural identity,” stated Ben Case, Managing Director of Sky TV.
The fact that 85% of us admit to using a statement from a TV show in a conversation shows how powerful TV is at influencing culture.
“We re celebrating this by adding some of the most iconic phrases to our Sky TV voice control glossary, so viewers can find the shows they re from in a new, fun way.”
The study also identified the most well-known iconic lines from the small screen, like “How you doin?” and “Lovely jubbly” (Only Fools and Horses, 37%). The two most frequently cited by the British population are “Get outta my pub” (EastEnders, 14%) and “Friends, 22%.
There are now quotes from Bridgerton, the Beckham documentary on Netflix, and the Sky series Brassic.
Baby Reindeer’s “Sent from iPhone” came in third, but viewers can also use another line from the Netflix series to call forth episodes: “I wish humans had a chin zip.”
The whole list of new features you can test out on your Sky TV is as follows:
- Give over – Brassic

The most recent additions coincide with the launch of Sky Essential TV, a brand-new, less expensive bundle.
Although the broadcaster has reduced the number of premium channels available to consumers, Sky Atlantic, Netflix, and Discovery+ are included in the new, affordable subscription.
According to Sky, the service combines more than 100 channels.
For new subscribers, Sky Essential TV offers a cheap price of 15 per month, which is less than 50p per day.
