Snow squalls, more cold expected Tuesday in Southeast Michigan as bitter temps grip region
At 8 a.m. today, a Winter Weather Advisory will be in force until 2 p.m. for snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches. Today is bitterly cold, with wind chills still in the single digits. By the end of the week, bounce back. Lori Pinson, a meteorologist, has your prediction.
DETROIT (FOX 2):Tuesday’s forecast calls for snow and harsh cold.
The coldest day of the workweek is today. Our morning temps are 10 to 15 degrees lower than they were yesterday due to an arctic blast that occurred overnight.
Wind chill readings will stay in the single-digit range throughout the day, and highs this afternoon will only be about 19 degrees. The coldest temperature ever recorded was -9 degrees in 1893, so there’s no need to worry about breaking it today.
In Metro Detroit, a Winter Weather Advisory has ended, and most places have received roughly half an inch of fresh snow. Snow squalls brought on by low pressure might accumulate between one and three inches. From this morning to the early afternoon, give yourself more time because of the icy roads.
With moderate temperatures expected by Friday, there is another chance of snow on Thursday. Although it is only brief, readings become seasonal, peaking in the mid-30s. Sunday will see the return of colder weather, with lows of about 8 degrees expected on Monday. Detroit in January!
What is a snow squall?
