Following his reversal of martial law, opposition MPs in South Korea have introduced a resolution to impeach the president.

In frightening scenes, soldiers stormed the parliament and clashed with demonstrators after President Yoon Suk Yeol announced military control yesterday.

After he made an embarrassing U-turn and backed out of the announcement, lawmakers have now moved to fire him.

Late yesterday night, the South Korean parliament passed a 190-0 vote to end martial law.

Yoon announced martial law in a startling TV speech, claiming he had to liberate the nation from North Korean occupation.

Yoon stated: “I declare martial law to protect the free Republic of Korea from the threat of North Korean communist forces, to eradicate the despicable pro-North Korean anti-state forces that are plundering the freedom and happiness of our people, and to protect the free constitutional order.”
