South Lyon woman charged with embezzling over $200K from vulnerable adult

FOX 2.In an embezzlement case, a 64-year-old South Lyon woman was charged with stealing more than $200,000 from a vulnerable adult.

Tracie Green faces one count of embezzlement from a vulnerable adult of $100,000 or more and two charges of embezzlement from a vulnerable adult of $50,000 or more but less than $100,000.

According to investigators, Green was a friend of the victim’s family who volunteered to assist with his care as his cognitive abilities began to deteriorate.

Green allegedly helped make modifications to the victim’s investment accounts in 2018 and 2020 and tried to add herself to the victim’s condo interest in South Lyon during this time.

By making these adjustments, she was guaranteed to receive half of the accounts’ total value—more than $400,000—when the victim passed away. In 2021, the victim passed away.

“It s both baffling and reprehensible that people, especially those trusted by the victims and their families, take advantage of vulnerable members of our community for their own personal gain,” stated Attorney General Dana Nessel. “Our seniors deserve protection from such predatory behavior, and my department remains committed to holding accountable those who prey on vulnerable adults.”

A $50,000 personal recognition bond was issued to Green. Her next court date is December 18.
