Southfield family needs help after Christmas Day house fire
Sometimes the story must be told through the pictures. A townhouse on Walden in Southfield is burnt on the interior and outside, with a jumble of ripped wet insulation on the ground wall and roof. What you saw is one thing, but what people heard is quite another.
DETROIT (FOX 2):On Christmas morning, a fire destroyed their flat, forcing a family of seven to start again.
“This has been awful. Latoya Amos, whose house was damaged in the fire, said, “It has been awful in our family.” “I don t have the words.”

“I think it was 5:30 in the morning and hearing this lady scream and holler and I finally open the door, and she was on fire still and we had to help put her out but she would not stop until everybody was out,” Amos recalled.
Amos is referring to her neighbor, who put herself in danger to save everyone since the fire wasn’t limited to Amos’ house; it also affected four other apartments, including this courageous woman who Amos claims was severely burned.”She had no regard for herself. “I can’t get that picture out of my head,” she remarked.
“She deserves our gratitude. Because she really saved the other four units of folks in the middle of everything,” Paige Robinson said. “Despite everything she’s going through, she banged, so to wake someone out of their slumber, she kept banging on the door in an attempt to get everyone else out. My mom was able to assist her, and she was a miracle to us. All we’re doing is attempting to start over.”
According to Amos, she and five other family members were residing in their townhouse unit; however, this Christmas Day fire has apparently rendered four other units uninhabitable.
