Just a few weeks before turning eighteen, a STAR cheerleader was brutally killed. Her family was heartbroken when they discovered her phone was linked to the horrific murder scene.

According to her family, Angelina Camillia Gonzales was fatally stabbed in her ex-boyfriend’s home on Friday, and the suspect who is suspected of killing her is currently in jail.

The 18-year-old suspect picked up Gonzales, a high school athlete, at a cheering banquet on Friday and took her to his home in Azusa, California, which is roughly 25 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles ABC affiliate KABC-TV reported that her family claimed to have tracked her phone and located her at the ex’s home.

Gonzales’ stepfather, Robert Caraballo, told the publication, “There was already crime scene tape up and forensics and all kinds of stuff when I got there.”

‘Hey, my daughter’s in there,’ I said as I rushed up to the officers.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department told The U.S. Sun that police are not identifying the detained suspect while they get ready to submit the case to the district attorney.

Gonzales’ family repeatedly cautioned the high school student to avoid her ex, according to Caraballo.

But according to her relatives, she had a kind heart and noticed the positive aspects of her ex.

Ruben Torres, the teen’s brother, told KABC, “It’s unbelievable, like the fact that you know, anyone could bring themselves to harm just such a sweet and loving, funny person.”

As of yet, the suspect has not been charged.
