Sub-zero wind chills incoming as Michigan temperatures keep falling
The prediction comes from Rich Luterman.
(FOX 2):With consistent cold and more light snow showers on Friday, the winter vibe isn’t abating.
There won’t be much snow accumulation—less than an inch. On the other hand, it might fall at any time of day.
Consequently, on Friday morning, the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement regarding snow showers in several areas of Southeast Michigan.
Keep an eye out for slick conditions in the morning because that could result in a fast layer of snow on untreated roads. For cities like Saginaw, Flint, Port Huron, Howell, Pontiac, Warren, and Detroit, the NWS anticipates no more than half an inch to accumulate.
With nightly wind chills that fall into the single digits, the cold persists throughout the weekend. The Lions game on Sunday is likely to have a classic January vibe.
Overnight temperatures will drop to as low as 7 degrees on Saturday and 8 degrees on Sunday. Snow is possible up until Saturday night during that time.
We continue to monitor a possible snowmaker that is skimming just south of us on Monday as it moves across the nation. In our southernmost communities, the current data varies from a complete miss to light snow, but it’s more likely to be a miss than a hit.
The cold is strengthened behind the system, with highs in the 20s continuing into the following week.
