A 22-year-old Indian exchange student was identified as the individual who passed away two days after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric bicycle in Hayward last week. The incident occurred throughout the previous week.
It has been determined by the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau that Sai Ram Gollapalli, a resident of Hayward who was 22 years old, was the person who passed away as a result of injuries incurred in the collision.
According to a GoFundMe campaign that was established by his sister Shiva Krishna Konduri, to raise funds to repatriate Gollapalli’s remains, Gollapalli was a graduate student from India who was studying computer science at California State University East Bay..

On Wednesday, May 8, at approximately 4:45 p.m., he was struck by a car that was located close to the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Orchard Avenue. According to the initial allegations filed by the police, Gollapalli was riding a scooter at the time of the event; however, his sister explained that he was riding an electric bicycle on his way to see.
“Sai is the perfect brother, friend, and son everyone wishes to have in their lives,” Konduri stated in his writing.
Gollapalli was a child who was lovely, kind, and hardworking, according to her description. Konduri added that her brother’s kidneys were donated to two people who required them in a later post explaining the news of his passing.
He remained at the site and was cooperative with the inquiry, which is still ongoing, according to the police, who identified the driver as a 35-year-old male from Hayward. According to the authorities, they do not believe that intoxication played a role in the scene.
