Suicidal man fires shots at police station in Saline

MI-SALINEOn December 29, a 39-year-old Manchester man drove to the Saline police station, called, said he was suicidal and wanted them to kill him, and then fired several bullets at the station, leading to his arrest.

The building was hit by at least one shot.

Before reaching the police station, Michigan State Police troopers were sent to his Manchester home to look into a report that he was “suicidal.” The caller was interviewed by MSP troopers. But the man was already out of his house in his car.

At around 8:30 a.m., the situation was defused with the help of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, Milan Police Department, Ann Arbor Police Department, Pittsfield Township Police Department, and Michigan State Police, and the individual was taken into custody without incident.

The Saline Police Department reports that charges are being considered for the shooting and that the man was removed for mental health assistance.
