GUILTY PLEA: Suspect Admits to $80,000 Crystal Lake Kohl’s Jewelry Heist!
A man is accused of breaking a window at a Crystal Lake store and taking $80,000 worth of gold. The store Kohl’s admitted to theft on Tuesday and was given a prison sentence of eight years and six months.
According to court records, John M. Signorile, 49, lives in Chicago and Schaumburg. He will serve his sentence along with an eight-and-a-half-year sentence handed down on January 31 in downstate Adams County for breaking into a Kohl’s in Quincy. This is because he was found guilty in both counties.
The indictment says that he broke a front glass window pane and jewelry cases in the Adams County case and stole gold worth more than $500. His court records in Adams County show that he also has to pay nearly $95,000 in restitution for the theft.
In the McHenry County case, Signorile has to spend half of his sentence and will get 317 days off for being in jail in McHenry County. According to the judgment order, he will have to be under supervision for a year after he gets out of jail.
Court records show that extra charges of theft and illegal damage to property were dropped. The report from Crystal Lake police says that around 2 a.m. on December 30, 2022, Signorile broke into the store at 5420 Route 14 and damaged the front entry glass pane window.
A news statement from the Crystal Lake police department at the time said that when they arrived at the scene of the alarm, they “discovered that the front glass to the business had been broken out and that the offender had made off with a significant amount of jewelry.”
The Illinois Department of Corrections says that Signorile is spending his time at the Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro.
