Suspects in Custody After High-speed Chase Causes Crash on Massachusetts Rt. 495

Three persons were detained Monday afternoon after a high-speed police chase along numerous Massachusetts interstates, which ended when the car lost control and crashed.

Before 2 p.m., Massachusetts State Police found and began tracking a stolen Lexus out of Peabody that was seen going at high speeds west on Rt. 9 through Southborough and Westborough before turning north onto Rt. 495.

Aerial footage captured by an MSP Air Wing shows the suspect car, a 2002 white Lexus IS, being pursued on Rt. 290 before turning onto Rt. 117 in Bolton and reversed course, re-entering Rt. 495 on the northbound side, according to police.

Shortly after, as the pursuit continued, the Lexus entered Rt. 290 West in Marlboro.

Troopers then deployed stop sticks between Soloman Pond Road in Marlboro and Green Street in Northboro, leading the suspect vehicle to collide with another car and stop in the median, according to police.

Several troopers responded to the location and captured three people in the stolen vehicle. Two of the suspects were taken to UMass Medical Center with minor injuries, while the third, a juvenile, was transported for booking.

According to authorities, the stolen vehicle was allegedly involved in a previous collision with two other vehicles on the ramp from Rt. 495 to Rt. 290 in Marlboro. According to authorities, none of the occupants of the other vehicle were injured.

Drone footage captured by Boston 25 shows the aftermath of the incident, in which the stolen Lexus crashed into the forested area beside the median.

The charges against the suspects have not yet been publicized. This is a continuing investigation.
