Sweden seizes ship suspected of damaging underwater cables in Baltic Sea sparking fears of fresh sabotage attacks

A ship that was suspected of damaging underwater data cables was captured by SWEDISH officials, raising concerns about sabotage.

The Vezhen, a ship flying the Maltese flag, was seized after authorities believed that “external influence” had damaged the strategically important cables in the Baltic Sea.

The damaged data cable ran between the Swedish island of Gotland and the Latvian town of Ventspils.

The unusual occurrence, which took place in the politically sensitive area, prompted a frenzied inquiry.

“Aggravated sabotage” was the result of the first search, the prosecution disclosed.

Evika Silina, the prime minister of Latvia, stated that an outside force was responsible for the alleged attack.
