Syrian rebels seize central Aleppo in lightning attack against Putin ally Assad as Vlad launches 1st airstrikes in 8yrs

After a lightning-fast offensive, Syrian rebels have taken control of central Aleppo and are already roving the streets.

A surprise onslaught against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, an ally of Vladimir Putin, was launched by dozens of exiled fighters from a militant Islamist group.

Hours of bloodshed ensued as the rebels fought against Russian-backed guards during their furious march into the city in armored trucks and tanks.

As they lost control of the city, the Syrian army declared that the big attack had killed scores of its soldiers.

Putin launched the first round of airstrikes in Syria since 2016 in response to the significant ground loss, even though he had taken control of Aleppo.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in Britain said Russian bombers conducted a horrifying raid on parts of Aleppo.

The shock assault, which left many men dead on the chilly Aleppo ground, is the largest attack in the Syrian civil war since 2020.

Since government forces supported by Russia and Iran drove out the rebels six years ago, Aleppo has been under Syrian army control and has been one of the most unstable regions in Syria for years.

The siege is expected to cause more problems for Russia and Iran, who are already engaged in their own domestic conflicts in the Middle East and throughout Europe.

Vlad has already replied, demonstrating his desire to regain control of Aleppo by the overnight strikes with his friends.

However, Iran has not responded, as Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP that the Syrian government appears to have been “abandoned by its main allies Iran.”
