DETROIT (FOX 2):Following an early Wednesday, a teenager is now facing accusations.
Detroit was where it began and concluded.
The backstory
Around 1:55 a.m., police attempted to pull over the 17-year-old after detecting a stolen car close to Ford and Venoy roads, according to Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. The driver fled and led police on a chase that reportedly reached 120 mph. The incident concluded close to Detroit’s Bluehill and Denver street crossroads, when he was taken into custody.
The teenager attempted to strike a police car during the pursuit, according to the prosecution.
The suspect is currently facing charges of reckless driving, driving without a license, receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, and third-degree flight.
“This example is quite concerning even if it is regrettably not unique. It is stated that this young person stole an automobile. The victim’s capacity to go to work, earn a living, and provide for their family can be significantly impacted when a car is taken, according to Worthy. “The officers and the public were seriously endangered by the claim that the respondent was escaping from them at a high speed. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
Next steps:
Thursday afternoon, the teenager is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary examination.
