Ten ‘most dangerous’ toys of 2024 revealed – and parents will want to check full list for unexpected choking hazards

A startling list of hazardous toys that could endanger children’s lives if they are bought this Christmas has been revealed by safety experts.

The World Against Toys Causing Harm committee provided terrifying justifications for why none of these objects should be placed under the tree, citing everything from choking concerns to bullet risks.

Before the holidays, WATCH evaluates toys on the market every year to determine the risks for worried parents.

The association said in a statement that the list highlights “potential hazards that families, caregivers, and educators should look out for to help safeguard children year-round.”

Joan E. Siff, president of WATCH, stated that “toy safety is about stopping potentially unsafe products from reaching children in the first place.”

“As long as unsafe toys remain on the market, staying informed about hazards is essential to prevent injuries and deaths.”

Parents were advised by the first toy experts to steer clear of the Pinovk toy Colt 45 pistol, which is presently available for purchase on Amazon.

Although the toy fires foam bullets, the sleek black design is frighteningly similar to a real gun, which may cause harm.

“Detailed replicas mistaken for lethal weaponry have resulted in numerous deaths over the years and should never be sold as toys,” WATCH reported.

Although Douglas Inc.’s plush brustle hedgehog could seem like a cute toy for a youngster, those who are buying gifts have been advised not to bring one home.

This occurs because fiber-like hair isn’t properly fastened, allowing it to be shed and for a youngster to swallow or breathe it in.

Parents should also steer clear of the Transformers Earth Spark cyber-sleeve because to the possibility of eye harm, according to WATCH.

The wrist-worn device allows users to blast foam bullets by pointing their fists at their playmates.

According to WATCH, Hasbro’s warning on the back that eye protection is recommended and that kids should never aim at their faces is insufficient to keep them safe.

“Although the warnings and cautions appear to mainly address the potential hazards associated with projectiles, the rigid, plastic sleeve extension also presents the potential for eye and other blunt force injuries,” the group stated.

Although kinetic sand scents ice cream treats can seem like a fun present for kids, WATCH warns that they may pose health risks.

Ten ‘worst toys’ of 2024

Parents are being cautioned by a child safety organization about the risks that certain toys present to kids. The following are ten things that World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc. (WATCH) has highlighted:

  • Pinovk Toy Colt 45 Pistol – potential for tragedy from realistic toy weaponry
  • Bristle Hedgehog – potential for ingestion injuries
  • Transformers Earthspark Cyber-sleeve – potential for eye injuries
  • Kinetic Sand Scents Ice Cream Treats – potential for ingestion injuries
  • Wubble Rumblers Inflatable Furious Fist – potential for blunt force trauma and impact injuries
  • Click N’ Play Toy Remote Set – potential for choking injuries
  • Snackles Sandy – potential for suffocation injuries
  • X-shot Poppy Playtime – potential for eye injuries
  • Playzone-fit Tri-flyer – potential for impact injuries
  • Zoo Jamz Doggy Xylophone – potential for ingestion and choking injuries

Although the sand-based product’s manufacturer, Spin Master, warns that it poses a choking hazard, the organization thinks that the product’s design and aroma may encourage children to attempt and swallow it.

Similar to the Transformers toy, the Wubble Rumblers Inflatable Furious Fist may cause harm if handled incorrectly, according to WATCH.

Although the toy’s manufacturer, NSI International, suggests parental supervision and an age limit, WATCH was concerned that users might still strike one another in the face and sustain impact injuries.

According to WATCH, the Click N’ Play Remote Set should be avoided this Christmas due to the choking hazard warning on the back.

According to EZ Trading, children under one should not use small phones, remote controls, or keys due to the risk of choking, but WATCH experts believe that youngsters as young as three years old may be at risk.

For the same reason, you should stay away from Zuru’s Snackles Sandy since the plush doll is said to be safe for newborns.

But according to WATCH, some babies can choke on bigger, softer objects.

A inexpensive X-Shot Poppy Playtime gun with foam rounds is also available from Zuru, but safety experts think it might be too strong.

WATCH considers the darts’ 90-foot range to be “enough force to potentially cause eye injuries.”

Additionally, parents have been alerted to the Playzone-Fit Tri-Flyer, a riding toy intended for young children.

Although WATCH criticized the manufacturer for failing to provide a warning to wear a helmet, users are advised to never step on the toy.

Lastly, according to WATCH, buyers may wish to avoid the Zoom Jamz Doggy Xylophone.

The drumstick handle is too long and thin for young children, according to safety experts, and they risk swallowing it and getting it lodged in their throats.
