Texas Longhorns star Quinn Ewers in exit fears leading to major Arch Manning QB decision
In 2025, there may be an intriguing scenario developing at quarterback for the Texas Longhorns.
Due to his inconsistent season, Quinn Ewers may declare for the NFL Draft but may also return for a fourth football season.
Ewers was viewed as a first-round draft pick prior to the season, but a difficult campaign has pushed him into the anticipated later rounds.
The Texas Longhorns are currently predicted to qualify for the College Football Playoff, but after that, things can become more difficult.
Ewers may choose to stay for his last season of collegiate eligibility if he doesn’t think he will be in a good draft position after the playoffs are over.
However, the Longhorns have quarterback Arch Manning waiting in the wings, so that might make things more difficult in Austin.

This season, Manning has been Ewers’ backup quarterback, starting a few games while he waits to be the starting quarterback full-time.
It might put one of them in a difficult situation if Manning and Ewers are both on the roster in 2025.
In 2025, which quarterback would be the Longhorns’ top pick?
Manning is supposed to be the prodigal son, but Ewers has been the team’s starter for the past three seasons.
It’s conceivable that one of them will be playing for a different school in 2025 if both are participating in college football.
Wynston Wilconx of FanSided thinks Ewers will be the one to hit the transfer portal.
“It s a real possibility Ewers departs to another program and is the missing piece to get them over the hump,” Wilconx stated.
“Ewers’ phone would ring from all the calls he would receive luring him to a potential program if he entered the transfer site.
And he might even pull a Dillon Gabriel and show why kicking him out was a bad idea.
“I’m sure Texas had plans for Ewers to join the draft when they acquired Arch Manning.
“So with that philosophy, it made sense to usher Manning in as the incumbent.”

Ewers’ decision to forego the draft and stay in college following the previous season gave Manning the opportunity to transfer out of Texas.
It doesn’t seem realistic that Manning would remain the backup for a third consecutive season if he did so once more.
In his brief tenure as a starting quarterback, Manning has already demonstrated his ability to guide the Longhorns.
He played a significant amount of minutes in three games this season, starting the next two games after replacing Ewers as a substitute against UTSA on September 14.

He passed for 806 yards, scored 10 touchdowns, and only had two interceptions in the three games.
Whether or whether he is at Texas, Manning is a quarterback of starting caliber and will be a team’s first choice.
