Texas Quake Alert! Earthquakes of Magnitude 3.0 and 3.2 Recorded Near Dallas

According to the United States Geological Survey, residents in north Texas were beginning to feel the effects of two minor earthquakes early on Wednesday afternoon.

Approximately 35 miles southwest of Dallas, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquakes were registered a little after one o’clock local time in Mansfield, Texas.

A magnitude of 3.0 was measured for the initial earthquake, which was approximately three miles deep. The second earthquake had a magnitude of 3.2 and also measured approximately the same depth as the first.

According to the United States Geological Survey’s “Did You Feel It?” page, both earthquakes were rated as earthquakes of strength IV in the region surrounding the epicenter.

It was reported that there were aftershocks felt in the region, although there were no immediate reports of injuries or significant damage.

According to earthquakelist.org, the most recent earthquake that had a magnitude greater than 3.9 and had an epicenter within fifty miles of Dallas was a 4.0 magnitude quake that took place in the year 2015.

Reactions of Texans to the Earthquake

Because the region surrounding Dallas is not typically prone to earthquakes, some Texans took to social media to verify what they had experienced.
