FOX 2, Lansing, Mich.Because certain vapes contain an oil that can harm the lungs when inhaled, customers are urged not to use them.
The voluntary recall of multiple Platinum Vape brand vape cartridge flavors containing Medium Chain Triglyceride Chain (MCT) oil was revealed by the Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) late last week.
Grape Valley Kush, Banana Candy, Blazing Blue Cheese, and Garlic Cookie are among the flavors that have been remembered.
Overview:
The CRA states that MCT oil is frequently included in meals and oral supplements. Cheese and yogurt are among the many foods that naturally contain the non-THC oil.
MCT oil, however, can lead to respiratory health problems when inhaled. Targeted testing for MCT oils in vapes was started by Michigan’s CRA last fall.
In a June memo, CRA Executive Director Brian Hanna stated, “The potential for adverse effects with MCT oil underscores the importance of safety guidelines for product development from a public health and safety standpoint.”
Next steps:
In order to recover and get rid of the vapes, the CRA is collaborating with dispensaries who stock them.
What you are able to do:
Consumers who bought Grape Valley Kush Platinum Vape, Banana Candy, Garlic Cookie, or Blazing Blue Cheese products after March 4, 2024, should verify their Metric Tag number to make sure they don’t have the recalled items.
Should you possess one of the recalled vapes, either dispose of it or return it to the store where you bought it.
Consumers who experienced negative side effects from using these vapes are urged to contact 517-284-8599.
