The State Of Dating In the DMV: What Is The Challenges And Opportunities For Singles

Washington, DC — Dating is probably difficult for single people in the DMV.

The Chamber of Commerce lists Washington, D.C., and Alexandria, Virginia, as two of the most lonely cities in the nation.

The study stated that it examined the analysis of “one-person households in each city as well as the number of males and females living in one-person households” using data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey.

Relationship counselor Tisia Saffold, who is located in the DMV, told DC News Now that she works with women all over the world to help them achieve their relationship objectives.

The Jamie Tyler Foundation’s goal is to assist Black men’s mental health. According to Saffold, “There is a wealth gap and women who are dating have the same college degrees,” which is one reason dating can be difficult.

According to Saffold, a large number of people visiting D.C. for government work may potentially be complicating the dating scene for singles.

“If you tell me you live in Silver Spring and I meet you in D.C., that’s a commute,” she continued. Right now, the relationship is distance-based.

Every Friday at 8 a.m. on DC News Now, a new feature called DMV Dating will debut. Send an email to morning anchor Cory James with any questions you would want the relationship coach to address.
