The Talk hosts ‘give up and check out’ like ‘it’s senior year’ as cast continues taping episodes after show cancelation

According to a source who spoke to The U.S. Sun, the hosts of THE TALK have “checked out” like it’s “senior year” as they record the show’s final weeks before it permanently stops this month.

Some on the set have already given up, even though the five TV stars presently hosting the canceled CBS talk show still have until December 20 to tape their final episode.

Returning hosts Sheryl Underwood, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, and Jerry O. Connell, who has been on the show since Sharon Osbourne’s tumultuous firing in 2021, have taken over as hosts of Season 15 of The Talk.

Since then, the daily show has battled with dwindling viewership, and CBS announced in April of this year that The Talk would permanently terminate after season 15.

“As they wrap up the final few weeks, there’s a very senior year vibe on set right now,” a production source said.

There are only a few days left to film. Because they love and care about everything so much, half of the crew is putting in even more effort.

Half of these have already been checked out. This also applies to those who are in front of and behind the camera.

They asserted, “I’m sure you can tell who is on stage is excited and just wants to leave, and who does this because they love it and care about the people.”

It’s regrettable that some people have, in a sense, already given up when there is still work to be done, the insider added.

It wasn’t what it was, but I don’t believe that’s a secret. The hosts’ energy has decreased. The audience isn’t stupid; they can sense when someone isn’t interested in anything anymore.

The on-set friction was revealed after a source told The U.S. Sun that Sheryl, 61, had been spotted sitting by herself on her phone in recent weeks as her co-hosts engaged in conversation and laughter.

According to the insider, Jerry, 50, is unquestionably the most popular member of the ensemble with the crowd and staff, but the actress and comedian could not say the same.

Jerry is one of the most charismatic guys on set, and nobody ever says anything negative about him.

Sometimes he joins the other hosts, and they all chat and joke around with each other.

According to the insider, Sheryl is occasionally included but frequently leaves the lighter chats to go backstage alone.

They went on to say that Sheryl is frequently sitting by herself, texting on her phone, and keeping to herself when the entire cast is on set and performing, while the others get up to chat.

The atmosphere is really enjoyable when Jerry is the only one out and about. Both the crew and the on-camera cast became visibly more nervous after Sheryl came out.

There’s just a distinct vibe, and everyone becomes more serious as well. It’s similar to when the principal is in the classroom and everyone is expected to behave well and not be able to unwind.

A representative for The Talk was contacted by The U.S. Sun for comment.

After 15 turbulent years, CBS startled viewers in April by announcing that The Talk would be ending.

David Stapf, president of CBS Studios, and Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, jointly issued a statement to Deadline.

When The Talk debuted 14 years ago, it introduced a novel and award-winning approach to CBS daytime talk, setting a new standard.

It has been a staple of CBS’s top-rated daytime lineup for many years because it introduced relevant, interesting, and pertinent subjects and conversations into people’s living rooms all over the world.

It goes without saying that creating and hosting a talk show all year long is no small feat, and we are incredibly grateful to our amazing hosts, she added.

We also wish to thank our coworkers and former show hosts who helped out over the years.
