Thieves slam U-Haul into Detroit dispensary during attempted smash-and-grab

DETROIT (FOX 2):Early on Wednesday, burglars attempted to enter a marijuana shop on the west side of the building using a U-Haul truck, leaving a large hole in the structure.

The proprietor of The Jazz Cannabis Club on Telegraph near McNichols, George Brikho, claims that at approximately 4:45 a.m., the alarm company called him regarding a U-Haul and SUV at the establishment. He instructed the alarm company to send out police, but the suspects crashed the truck into the building as they were approaching.

The building currently has a huge hole in the wall, but nothing was taken.

“For me to make a claim, it’s going to raise my insurance, so I’m just better off fixing it myself,” Brikho stated.

According to Brikho, this is the second time in recent memory that criminals have targeted his company in an attempt to access his merchandise. They tried to break into Jazz with sledgehammers around a month ago. He stated that he thinks the four individuals who attempted to use the U-Haul on Wednesday are the same individuals that damaged the dispensary one month prior.

The suspects fled.
