‘This is terrorism’: U-M regent’s home, vehicle vandalized by pro-Palestine activists
His wife’s car was spray painted with the words “Free Palestine – Divest” at two in the morning on Monday when his family was asleep. Someone had thrown Mason jars, which were thought to be filled with urine, through the front window of his Huntington Woods home.

“They’re not looking to ‘Free Palestine’ – they’re looking to harass a Jew,” he stated.

“Showing up at a board meeting and screaming at me – that is your First Amendment right,” Acker stated. “It is not your place to terrorize my children, damage my property, and throw mason jars through my window. Whoever did this should be put in jail since it is terrorism and a crime.
Regretfully, this is not the first instance. On his front door back in May, a guy wearing a mask displayed a list of demands from the University of Michigan Gaza solidarity encampment.
The Goodman Acker law offices were then vandalized in June, with the exterior of the building covered in red and black paint.
At the time, Acker stated, “There is no denying that it is anti-Semitic to target specific Jewish elected officials.” “It is unacceptable – it is un-American – and it must stop now.”
Regretfully, it hasn’t stopped. His wife and their three small girls are now living in constant anxiety.
In relation to the June vandalism at the law office in Southfield, police have not yet made an arrest. According to Acker, he’s hoping they can apprehend the guilty parties this time.
“It’s almost certainly the same people,” he stated. “There was an attack on the Jewish Federation Offices, an attack on President Santa Ono’s private residence in West Bloomfield, almost certainly the same group of people engaged in these activities.”
As for Acker, he says he will continue to serve on the board of regents at his alma mater, to do the work he was elected to do, and he’s calling on others to publicly denounce these attacks.
“I was targeted at my home – at my office – because I’m Jewish,” he stated. “That is it.”
