Three dead as helicopter crashes into grounds of medieval castle in Italy killing salami fortune heir & both pilots

The heir to a salami fortune and both pilots were killed when a helicopter crashed into the grounds of a historic castle in Italy, killing three people.

According to Italian media, the accident may have been caused by poor visibility brought on by the heavy fog and darkness.

Lorenzo Rovagnati, 42, the CEO of the Rovagnati preserved meats company, and two unidentified professional pilots are said to have perished in the horrific event.

Just a few kilometers west of Parma in northern Italy, the helicopter crashed into the property on Wednesday night.

The cause of the collision that happened on the property of Castelguelfo di Noceto, which belongs to the Rovagnati family, is being investigated.

Although their Gran Biscotto cooked prosciutto is its most famous product, Rovagnati also produces salamis, mortadellas, and other processed meats.

According to unverified sources, one of the helicopter pilots attempted to take off just prior to the collision.

According to reports, the helicopter is an AugustaWestland A109.

The flight recorder has been seized by Parma public prosecutor’s office officials, who are investigating whether human or technical mistake caused the tragedy.
