Three-year Sentences Recommended for Assault on Harborfields Youth Detention Staff
On Thursday, May 16, Bilal Rex, 20, from Atlantic City, and Samir Abdullah, 21, from Galloway, entered guilty pleas to the charge of third-degree aggravated assault on a prison staff. A press release issued by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that the defendants had entered guilty pleas.
The two corrections officers were being held at the Harborfields Youth Detention Center on Monday, December 12, 2022, when Rex and Abdullah allegedly assaulted them. This information was provided by the investigators.
Both Rex and Abdullah are expected to serve sentences of three years in prison, according to the prosecution’s recommendation. Both of the guys have already been sentenced to prison as a result of their guilty pleas in previous cases.

They will receive further terms in addition to the ones they are already serving for the assaults they committed against the corrections officers.
