TikTok camera flip trend explained

THERE’S a new trend doing the rounds on social media and it’s one for the technophobes.

The light-hearted TikTok videos show show users offering advice to their followers before ‘accidentally’ switching the camera to selfie mode to ‘reveal’ themselves.

TikTok has become inundated with wholesome clips and even celebrities have got involved.

What is the TikTok camera flip trend?

It hasn’t taken people long to jump on the latest social media trend, recruiting partners, pets, babies and pals to feature in the videos.

One user filmed a woman working away at her laptop with the words: “I think pet parents should stop working 24/7 and feed and give attention to their dogs 24/7 instead”.

Suddenly the camera switches to a close-up of a dog’s face with the caption: “Oops I flipped the camera”.

Another video showed a burger and fries on a plate with the words: “Normalize giving compliments to the chef. I think it would make them feel all warm and fuzzy and stuff.”

The camera then ‘flips’ to reveal a chef who looks embarrassed to be ‘caught’ out.

Celebrities have also got involved with the game.

Joe Jonas shared a snap of Kevin Jonas sat on a private jet, chatting away to someone out of shot.

“Guys we need to start recognizing that our younger siblings are basically always right,” he wrote on the video.

It flips to Kevin looking ‘surprised’ and wrote: “Oops”.

The video has already been watched over 10.8 million times as of November 2024.

It’s unclear who started the trend but it’s been gaining popularity.

Another fad to take the app by storm is the loaded cereal bowl trend which was started by influencer Lauren Hoffman.

The breakfast bowl challenge sees TikTokers adding various exciting toppings to basic cereal.

Some have opted to add bananas and strawberries to their bowl, while others will add some sweeter choices like cake.

Creators have all appeared to add some kind of nut butter and some “seasoning” like cinnamon.

Depending on whether you like your cereal to go soft or not, you can either add yogurt or milk to your bowl.
