Top college quarterback and predicted high NFL Draft pick to quit for rivals following huge NIL offer

THE Michigan Wolverines are reportedly planning an audacious move to secure high school superstar Bryce Underwood.

The top-ranked quarterback in the class of 2025 verbally committed to Louisiana State earlier this year.

Underwood, 17, a senior at Belleville High School, visited Baton Rouge for the LSU Tigers’ home game against Alabama last weekend.

He has led Belleville to back-to-back state championships and is widely regarded as the best player in Michigan.

Reports suggest the Wolverines are attempting to pull off a pricey flip for the No. 1 recruit.

Underwood is set for a bumper payday no matter which school he chooses.

He is expected to land a multiyear NIL package “valued above $5 million”, according to On3.

CBS reports Underwood could “double” that number if he opts to join the reigning national champions.

Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, has previously indicated he would put up $3 million in NIL money to tempt a talented QB to his alma mater Michigan.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Underwood could be that man, with new coach Sherrone Moore looking to put his stamp on the program.

“[Underwood is] a potential franchise signal caller with the ideal blend of size, arm talent and athleticism,” Andrew Ivins of 247Sports wrote in a scout report earlier this year.

“He has exhibited no shortage of field command midway through the senior season, which makes sense given his resume – over 48 career starts and upwards of 165 touchdowns accounted for.

“Those numbers are amplified even more by the fact that he’s extremely young for the grade and won’t turn 20 years old until his third year of college.”

Coach Moore is in the first season of a five-year, $30 million contract with the Wolverines.

The reigning champs are 5-5 after a tough start to the season, losing 20-15 to Indiana last time out.

Moore took over from Jim Harbaugh, who left to return to the NFL and coach the Los Angeles Chargers.

Despite huge sums being banded around on Underwood rejecting the Tigers, reports suggest his appearance at last weekend’s game could tip the scales in LSU’s favor.

“There is a strong sense that Bryce Underwood will sign with LSU in a few weeks,” Rivals reporter Sam Spiegelman wrote on X.

“After returning to Baton Rouge this weekend, the expectation is that Underwood will be a Tiger.”

“He is 1,000 percent going to LSU. If he wanted to be in Ann Arbor with us, he would’ve committed here long ago. If the talk of $ didn’t have him de-commit, no dice,” one disappointed Michigan fan responded.

“Michigan fans will be all in their feels about this one lol,” laughed another.

“After the last two games all we can do is keep our fingers crossed & hope he is not discouraged,” said a third.
