Top NFL Draft pick bust who earned $18m in career now a business student at Ivy League school at age of 27
The 2018 NFL quarterback class is now regarded as one of the greatest in history.
Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen all had outstanding seasons that helped their teams advance to the postseason.
Even though they all experienced difficult losses at various points during the postseason, they all combined for enormous victories and impressive stats.
In actuality, they all had a passer rating above 101, scored 20 combined rushing touchdowns, and combined for 145 passing touchdowns against just 38 interceptions.
Together, their teams won 49 games during the regular season, and Allen was the only quarterback to throw for fewer than 4,000 yards.
The first-round selection of five quarterbacks is the second-highest number ever, tied with 2021 and 1999, and behind 2024 and 1983 on six.

What happened to No. 5 after Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, and Jackson made four?
Josh Rosen, who was chosen by the Arizona Cardinals with the 10th overall choice, 22 picks ahead of Lamar Jackson, is the name that is absent from that group.
After his tenure with the UCLA Bruins, scouts deemed Rosen the class’s “mostNFLready” quarterback.
The choice was rated in the A- to A+ level by the majority of analyses and publications at the time.
“Rosen is the best pure pocket passer in the draft,” NFL.com stated at the time. He will be a Pro Bowl player if the Cardinals can keep him safe.
His description in Sports Illustrated was “the most polished QB in this draft.”
“Josh Rosen is the best quarterback in this draft,” SB Nation stated.
He still has the school’s single-season throwing yardage record (3,756) and is listed on several Bruins all-time lists.
Rosen ranks seventh in terms of passing touchdowns and fourth in terms of career passing yards.
The Cardinals moved up five positions to choose him by trading a first, third, and fifth-round pick.
As Rosen stated after being chosen with the tenth choice, “there were nine mistakes ahead of me.”
He agreed to a four-year contract worth $17.84 million after being picked.
NFL WARNS OF CRIME RING
The NFL warned the player’s union and team security directors that crooks were targeting professional athletes’ residences.
In October 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were both broken into on separate days.
The next month, Linval Joseph, a defensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys and a former member of the Minnesota Vikings, had his house broken into.
The home of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was then broken into in early December.
Dak Prescott’s girlfriend and Luka Don I were both attacked a few days after Christmas.
The burglaries are being investigated by the FBI as a component of a global organized crime organization.
The crimes, which are thought to be connected to a South American crime gang, have been under observation by the NFL Players Association and team security agencies.
It is thought that on game days when the players are not there, the burglars frequently break into residences.
Items like cash, jewelry, watches, and purses are swiftly stolen by them.
NFL Security issued a statement at the time cautioning players against posting in real time on social media and advising them to install security systems and hide valuables.
In Week 4 of his rookie season, Rosen took the starting position, but the Cardinals were a complete mess after losing in Week 7 and losing offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.
In the end, he finished 3-10 while Steve Wilks was fired at the end of the season as the starter (3-13).
The Cardinals selected Kyler Murray with the first pick in the subsequent draft, despite Kliff Kingsbury’s declaration that “Josh is our guy” upon taking over as head coach.
After that, Rosen was dealt to the Miami Dolphins, where he started in Week 3 in place of Ryan Fitzpatrick.
But after three consecutive losses, Fitzpatrick replaced him on the bench, which was his last appearance.
After then, Rosen played backup for a number of teams before gaining greater playing time with the Atlanta Falcons in 2021.
In 11 pass attempts, he threw two interceptions.
Rosen has been out of the NFL since 2022, but he has one more season left to earn a deal.
Rosen seems to be done with football, while others play in other leagues, like Canada, or stay on practice teams in hopes of getting another NFL opportunity.
NBC play-by-play commentator Mike Tirico was talking about Allen, Jackson, and the class of 18 during the Bills vs. Ravens game earlier this year.
