Tragedy as body found in search for missing mum Jane Burton who vanished in early hours of morning

A BODY has been found in the search for a mum who disappeared in the early hours of the morning.

Jane Burton was reported missing from Leigh at around 2am on November 12, sparking a hunt by Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

Emergency services were believed to have been seen around Pennington Flash and a nearby wooded area throughout the afternoon, Manchester Evening News reports.

Police helicopters and ambulances were also deployed to the scene, it is understood.

A body was discovered on Tuesday afternoon.

The Sun has contacted GMP for comment.
