Tragic Collision Halts Traffic in Gainesville

FHP troopers swiftly responded to the scene, where they found that a 78-year-old driver operating the SUV had veered out of her lane, leading to a direct collision with an oncoming pickup truck.
The severity of the impact necessitated the closure of all lanes along Southwest 24th Avenue to facilitate rescue operations and conduct preliminary investigations into the cause of the accident.
Emergency responders transported the driver of the SUV to UF Health Shands Hospital, where tragically, she succumbed to her injuries.
