Five of the victims were younger than ten years old.
The youngest, just three years old, had been on a family vacation with his parents, Jin Lee Seon, 37, and Kang Ko, 43, in the days before.
Tragically, all three perished on the fateful aircraft.
Hours before they stepped onto the Jeju Air plane, photos from their trip—the boy’s first and only vacation abroad—were shared on Instagram.
The horrific photos, which were discovered by local media, showed the cherished family vacation and were all taken in the days before they first departed for Thailand.
One included the three of them posing for a picture in front of a stunning Thai palace.
As they flew into Bangkok, a second heartbreaking photo captured the young youngster eagerly looking out of a plane window.
The toddler’s dad captioned another photo of his unused passport, saying, “My son is going abroad for the first time on a night flight, and his first passport has no stamp!”
According to South Korean media, the adored father had organized the trip to spend Christmas with his family.
They stated that it was also a celebration for the baseball team he worked for after they won the Korean Series earlier this year.
Sports broadcaster Jung Woo-young paid tribute to Mr. Ko online, claiming that he worked in public relations for the Kia Tigers baseball team.
“He was so good at his job that everyone on our company’s baseball broadcasting team liked him,” the heartfelt post read.
“We waited until the very end for news of a miracle return, but our final hope vanished when we learned that everyone save the rescuers had died.
“He never came back in the end. Not even his relatives.
According to the BBC, only five of the 179 persons who died have had their bodies handed to their families, and only 141 of those deaths have been confirmed.
With the exception of two Thai nationals, namely Sirithon Chaue, a 22-year-old lady, everyone on the flight is believed to have been Korean.
Sadly, when the plane crashed and landed, her mother was at the airport waiting for her.
Chaue’s uncle explained that she intended to travel to South Korea to see her mother in the hopes of securing employment there.
“She always wanted to be an air hostess there,” he continued.
“Her mother initially believed the jet failure was minor as she was waiting at the airport. However, she later came upon the social media videos of the events. She was in terror and shock.
As they deal with the aftermath of the horrific collision, authorities are said to have discovered almost 600 body parts.
At the airport, distraught family have gathered and are demanding to see their loved ones’ bodies.
Police have come under fire for allegedly taking their time in properly identifying victims.
According to the BBC, police superintendent general Na Won informed relatives that they were doing all in their power to gather and match as many remains as possible.
There are now serious doubts about whether the catastrophe could have been prevented.
Investigators are working feverishly to determine what caused one of the most horrific aircraft accidents in South Korea’s history.
Authorities have cautioned that it may take months to finish their investigation into the tragedy, despite the fact that flight data and cockpit voice recorders have been retrieved from the wreckage.
Police are also looking into an email that said they were responsible for the passenger plane disaster on Jeju Air.
On its way to Muan International Airport, the passenger plane is believed to have struck a bird, damaging the landing gear.
When its right engine was hit, the video shows it getting closer to the airport.
The pilot, who is said to have called for a mayday immediately after the impact, may have been forced to turn off the damaged engine as he struggled to control it in midair due to the accident.
