Transgender Woman Assaults Commuter on NYC Subway: Safety Concerns Rise
NEW YORK — An assault occurred on a commuter who was riding the subway in Manhattan on Saturday morning. According to the police, a transgender woman hit a man in the face while he was riding the train. The incident resulted in extensive injuries.
Those who ride the subway are now concerned about the safety of the public transportation system.
According to Ruben Morales, who has been taking the metro for as long as he can remember, “It has been like people getting attacked by random people.”
It was the same reaction that many other riders on the No. 7 line at Grand Central station had. According to the police, a guy was left bleeding from the forehead after a transgender woman first threatened him with a shoe and then hit him in the face. His reaction was the same as many other riders’ reactions.
After he was assaulted at approximately 6:30 in the morning, law enforcement authorities and emergency medical services personnel were present at the train station with the victim.
Because it is New York, you must always make sure that you are safe, regardless of where you are. Chris J., a traveler on the train, advised passengers to “just be vigilant of your surroundings.”
The New York Police Department reports that the number of crimes committed on subways has decreased by more than 23 percent in the month of March. This was originally attributed by Mayor Adams to the addition of one thousand police personnel to the system.
“Rather than being concerned about individuals being attacked here, they are more concerned with people hooping the train. As a result, they all remain in close proximity to the upper floor rather than coming down and being in the company of the people, as Morales explained. After being placed into an ambulance, the victim was transported to NYU Langone Medical Center in a stable condition.
Neither the perpetrator nor anybody else was taken into custody, as stated by the New York Police Department.
At this time, it is not clear what precipitated the attack.
