Travis Kelce makes massive NFL history in Kansas City Chiefs playoff win over Houston Texans
Once more, Travis Kelce has etched his name in the postseason record books.
The 35-year-old standout tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs helped his club advance to the AFCC championship game by defeating the Houston Texans 23–14 in the Divisional Round.
Kelce reached the 100-yard milestone with an 18-yard reception that placed the ball on the Texans’ 8-yard line with 13:30 remaining in the fourth quarter.
By making the catch, Kelce was able to surpass NFL wide receiver great Jerry Rice, who had nine 100-yard receiving performances in NFL postseason history.
As Patrick Mahomes was collapsing, Kelce continued his incredible day with an 11-yard touchdown pass during that same drive.
The Chiefs had a 20–12 lead after the touchdown, and Andy Reid’s team would go on to win.

Kelce received messages from NFL fans over his playoff receiving performance.
“At TE, Kelce is the go-to person. “Definitely!” one wrote.
“What a career for Travis,” someone else said next.
A third person said, “Congrats to him.”
Last season, Kelce had already surpassed Rice’s mark for postseason receptions.
In addition, the 35-year-old owns the most receiving yards and receptions of any tight end in postseason history.
Only Rice has ever surpassed 2,000 postseason-receiving yards, which Kelce did during the game.
Along with Rice and Arizona Cardinals icon Larry Fitzgerald, the 10-time Pro Bowler became just the third player in NFL history to record at least 100 receptions (including postseason) in seven seasons.
Nevertheless, Kelce had one of his worst seasons in 2024 going into the playoffs.
He set career lows for touchdowns (3) and receiving yards (823).
