Trump admin purges federal sites of LGBTQ+ material: What does this mean?
A program used by the CDC to measure statistics on sexually transmitted illnesses was among the other irrelevant LGBTQ+ information removed as of Friday.
DETROIT (FOX 2):Many federal websites saw a significant alteration on Friday when public health data and LGBTQ+ content were removed.
We know:
The Oval Office issued the directives to clear these sites.
Sites under the DHHS umbrella, which includes the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control, had their content removed by the almost two-week-old second Trump administration.
Local viewpoint:
LGBTQ+ people are already in shock over past executive directives that specifically targeted their community, according to Emme Zanotti of Equality Michigan. They now have more exciting news.
“Color me surprised, don’t you? Once more, the president is disparaging the LGBTQ community. He began fighting this war during his campaign, and he is now fulfilling his pledges to his base,” Zanotti stated. They attempt wordsmithing, erasing, and basically erasing us, but you are unable to accomplish it. I’m here today to demonstrate that transgender and LGBTQ persons have existed from the beginning of time.
A program used by the CDC to measure statistics on sexually transmitted illnesses was among the other irrelevant LGBTQ+ information removed as of Friday.
There is no longer access to a tracking system on high school students’ health-related behavior, and another tool that was intended to investigate natural disaster response has been eliminated.
It’s quite disheartening to observe. “Until we have more information, we will wait and see how everything develops before making any snap decisions about the long-term effects,” Zanotti added.
What is unknown to us:
Whether this is a short-term or long-term issue is unclear.
The CDC did not respond when FOX 2 contacted them for comment.

As federal agencies rushed to comply with a requirement linked to President Donald Trump’s order taking down protections for transgender individuals, public health data vanished from websites, entire webpages went blank, and staff members removed pronouns from email signatures on Friday.
