Trump and Kim Jong-un to reignite nuclear bromance after North Korea ‘ignored Biden for four years’

Ahead of his upcoming tenure in the White House, President-elect Donald Trump is attempting to rekindle his well-known friendship with North Korean dictator Kim Jon-un.

After Kim ignored former President Joe Biden for four years, Trump’s team is considering having direct conversations with Kim.

According to two people who spoke to Reuters, those advocating for their meeting hope it will reduce the likelihood of violent confrontation in the years to come.

The Republican strongman’s team believes he will have a far greater chance of establishing a rapport with Kim.

The couple exchanged what Trump described as “beautiful” letters during his first term in office, which lasted from 2017 until 2021.

It was an unprecedented action by totalitarian tyrant Kim, who now has a larger nuclear arsenal and a stronger friendship with fellow despot Vladimir Putin after four years in power.

The first time a sitting American premier had visited the nation was when the two met three times during Trump’s first term, in Singapore, Hanoi, and at the Korean border.

Trump has called their conversations “falling in love” in the past.

And when he stepped down as president in 2021, he retained “love letters” as mementos of Kim’s affection.

In February 2022, officials confiscated these and other presidential documents from his Mar-a-Lago residence.

When Kim became unwell in 2020, Trump conveyed his best wishes.

“All I can say is that I wish him well because, as you are aware, if he is in the kind of state that the news and stories indicate, it is a very dangerous condition.

“I’ve stated it numerous times before. We would have been at war with North Korea right now if someone else had been in this situation.”

“I just hope he’s doing fine,” he continued. My connection with Kim Jong-un has been excellent.

“I hope he does well. I’m not sure if the reports are accurate.

According to sources who spoke to Reuters, Trump has not yet made an official decision regarding the rekindling of the two’s burgeoning bromance.

As recently as last week, during a military parade with guns in tow, Kim declared: “We have already gone as far as we can on negotiating with the United States.”

American demands that North Korea give up its nuclear weapons were not met, and discussions between the adversaries did little to advance peace negotiations in prior years.

Additionally, Kim requested complete relief from US sanctions, which was once more not met.

New initiatives would initially concentrate on reestablishing communication between the two parties; they would not yet have any explicit policy objectives.

“My experience with President Trump is that he’s much more likely to be open to direct engagement,” US Senator Bill Hagerty previously told Reuters.

“I’m optimistic that we can see an improvement in the relationship and perhaps a different posture adopted by Kim Jong Un if that dialogue were reopened again.”
