Trump will make FIRST foreign trip since reelection in days – & is set to rekindle surprising bromance with world leader
Donald Trump will travel overseas for the first time since he won the election in an attempt to renew his friendship with his friend Emmanuel Macron.
This weekend, the president-elect will join the French president at the opening ceremony of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
After more than five years of reconstruction following a terrible fire in 2019 that nearly destroyed the towering Paris landmark, the cathedral is scheduled to reopen this Saturday.
On Saturday and Sunday, Notre Dame will reopen with high-security rituals that are anticipated to draw some 50 heads of state and government.
Last night, Trump said on his Truth Social website that he would be one of them.
He stated: “It is an honor to announce that I will be traveling to Paris,France, on Saturday to attend the re-opening of the Magnificent and Historic Notre Dame Cathedral, which has been fully restored after a devastating fire five years ago.”

Mr. Macron pledged in the immediate wake of the fire that Notre Dame will be restored “more beautiful than ever” in five years.
The stunning church is back on its feet and prepared to greet visitors once more following a comprehensive repair that took over 60 months and cost an astounding 600 million dollars.
Macron’s efforts to restore the French beauty were commended by Trump.
The restoration of Notre Dame to its full splendor, and even more so, has been made possible by President Emmanuel Macron, he stated. For everyone, it will be an extremely memorable day.
When a huge fire consumed Notre Dame in 2019, Trump was president. The spire collapsed, threatening to demolish the 850-year-old structure.
Like the rest of the world, he watched the conflagration in terror.
On X, formerly Twitter, he posted, “So horrible to watch the massive fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris,” along with some suggestions for the city.
Perhaps it could be extinguished by using flying water tankers. You have to move fast,” Trump joked.
“All means were being used to extinguish the flames, except for water-bombing aircraft which, if used, could lead to the collapse of the entire structure of the cathedral,” French officials seemed to reply quickly.
HALLMARKS OF BROMANCE
Following his inauguration in 2017, Trump’s relationship with Macron was characterized by a bromance.
One of the world leaders who was most adept at catering to the American president’s whims during Trump’s first year in office was Macron.
He seemed to develop a strong relationship with Trump, mostly by flattering him.
Speaking about his French bromance, Trump stated during a White House meeting: “They’re all saying what a great relationship we have, and they’re actually correct.”
It’s not false information; we truly share a unique bond.
Trump continued, jokingly removing a strand of dandruff from Macron’s shoulder: “I’ll actually remove that small bit of dandruff.” We need to perfect him. He is flawless.
As they moved around, the couple was seen holding hands and giving awkward cheek kisses.
What body language expert Judi James had to say about the Trump-Macron kiss
- This relationship began like a battleground in terms of the power potential of their greeting rituals.
- But since Macron out-Trumped Trump in terms of eye contact and handshake grip the two leaders have developed a tendency for displays of affection and rapport.
- This is a real toe-curler though with Macron clasping Trump firmly round the back to pull him down to his height for a kiss Francaise.
- Trump appears to struggle which results in a glazed eye to suggest he’s floundering and that painful Demi-pucker of the lips.
- Macron’s rituals suggest he’s still a canny power-broker who manages to catch Trump on the back foot.
Macron once gave Trump such a firm handshake that he left a thumbprint impression on it.
During the D-Day commemorations, the US president was seen in pictures grimacing as his French counterpart held him in a vice-like hold.
Macron hurried to gain favor with the president-elect after Trump was elected to a second term last month.
Even before major media outlets formally proclaimed Donald Trump to win the race, he was one of the first world leaders to congratulate him.
“Congratulations, President Trump,” he wrote. Ready to work together as we did for four years. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”
The trip will be Trump’s first abroad since he won November’s presidential election.
He traveled toScotlandandIrelandin May 2023, as a candidate, to visit his localgolfcourses.
