Two dozen cars broken into during Michigan basketball game in Ann Arbor

As University of Michigan basketball supporters watched the team defeat the Washington Huskies at adjacent Crisler Arena, the cars were parked at Pioneer High School.

FOX 2, Ann Arbor, Mich.A man suspected of being involved in two dozen smash and grabs that took place at a Michigan game over the weekend is being sought by police.

The individual is shown in the Ann Arbor Police photo sporting a hoodie that reads, “only the forgotten are truly dead.”

According to Sgt. Jim Anuszkiewicz, many cars were the target.

“There were 27 cars that were broken into in all. We’re still investigating whether there was a single person or a number of people involved, but it was undoubtedly thought out,” Anuszkiewicz stated.

As University of Michigan basketball supporters watched the team defeat the Washington Huskies at adjacent Crisler Arena, the cars were parked at Pioneer High School.

Unfortunately, following the game, supporters discovered that their cars were broken and that valuables like cash, wallets, handbags, and even a laptop had been stolen.

“We had one individual that was from the Kalamazoo area, had their younger daughter with them and had to drive all the way back to Kalamazoo with their window smashed out,” stated Anuszkiewicz.

Police were sure to urge individuals to always lock their valuables and not leave them in their cars or in the open.

Officials say they are unsure if they are searching for more than one suspect because of the extent of the destruction.

The individual was photographed by a Tesla, and according to the police, someone is aware of his identity.
