FOX 2, SOUTHFIELD, MICHOn Christmas morning, the Southfield Fire Department arrived on the scene of a fully involved fire in the 24000 block of Walden Road.

There were two injuries. One received treatment on the spot, while the other was taken to a nearby hospital for more care.

Johnny Menifee, the fire chief for Southfield, said, “We are so thankful and grateful that no lives were lost this Christmas Day.” “This is another stark reminder of why working smoke detectors are so important.”

Within five minutes of arriving on the site, the fire department discovered the entire five-unit townhouse complex completely damaged. An immediate offensive was launched, involving search and rescue as well as fire suppression.

Families are still being placed in temporary housing as a result of the structure being declared uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is still being looked into.

The Oakway Mutual Aid call was answered by five more fire units. The Ferndale, Bloomfield Township, Royal Oak, West Bloomfield, and Madison Heights fire departments sent units to the two-alarm incident, for which the Southfield Fire Department is grateful.
