Two-time Super Bowl champion brutally cut by Kansas City Chiefs after becoming forgotten man in offense
A two-time Super Bowl champion has been cut by the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs waived running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
The Chiefs selected Edwards-Helaire in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
He had a significant role in the team’s offensive at first, but ever since Isaiah Pacheco emerged, he has lost popularity.
Edwards-Helaire was never able to produce the kind of output one would anticipate from a first-round selection.
He added 297 receiving yards and a touchdown to his 803 running yards and four touchdowns in his debut season.

Edwards-Helaire has only amassed 1,510 total yards over three seasons following his rookie year of 1,100 yards, although he did score 14 touchdowns.
Despite playing 12 fewer games than Edwards-Helaire, Pacheco already leads him in career rushing yards and touchdowns.
Edwards-Helaire has missed the entire 2024 season, despite the fact that the Chiefs could have used his assistance while Pacheco was sidelined due to injury.
After struggling with PTSD, he missed the season’s opening and has been at the bottom of the depth chart ever since.
“I love you, KC! A family I didn’t realize I needed—you all fulfilled the dreams of a Baton Rouge kid!” On X, Edwards-Helaire wrote.
“To Chiefs Kingdom, you guys are the best! Your love and support during my difficult times will always be remembered! “With love!”
According to ESPN, Edwards-Helaire’s PTSD was caused by a heist in 2018 in which he shot a man who was attempting to rob him.
Although it is unclear whether he or teammate Jared Small fired the gun that killed the robber, it was determined that the use of force was justified.
Before the season, Edwards-Helaire stated, “Sometimes I’m admitted into the hospital, something I can’t stop throwing up and it’s just, I [don’t] know [anything] pretty much to stop it.”
“Very severe dehydration, but it’s really just a mental absence.”
“It’s difficult and extremely overwhelming to live with PTSD.

After going through waivers, Edwards-Helaire will probably get another chance to play in the NFL with a different team.

He may be a useful player if his PTSD is under control, but there hasn’t been any recent information on how he is managing it.
If he can recover, he still has a lot of time left in the NFL at the age of 25.
