Ulta confirms holiday policy change but there are strict exceptions if you have a gift receipt
There are certain stringent requirements that consumers need to be aware of, however ULTA has revised one of its policies for the Christmas season.
No matter where you shop for Christmas, it’s ideal to have a gift receipt because it’s essential to its benefits.
According to its website, Ulta is expanding the timeframe for returns, just like many other businesses.
If an item needs to be returned, anyone who bought it online or in-person at Ulta stores between November 1 and December 31, 2024, will be eligible.
With the extension, Ulta’s policy now permits up to 90 days from the date of purchase, rather than the usual 30 days.
After December 31st, merchandise will be subject to the regular return policy.

This implies that shoppers will receive store credit rather than a complete refund if they buy something on December 31 and return it within 30 days.
Generally speaking, consumers have 30 days to return any new or lightly used items to Ulta with proof of purchase in order to receive a complete refund in the “original form of payment.”
All of the original components must be included with the item.
Thus, one of the most crucial things for Ulta consumers to keep in mind when returning gifts during the holidays in order to benefit from the extension is having a receipt, particularly a gift receipt.
Customers who have their gift receipt and fulfill Ulta’s conditions for the Christmas return extension will still need to adhere to a number of stringent guidelines.
REFUND REJECTS
For starters, Ulta “reserves the right” to validate government IDs twice and refuse a return if they suspect fraud or are unable to confirm the original transaction in their system for whatever reason.
Furthermore, returns with a gift receipt made within 60 days of the purchase date will not be eligible for a complete refund, even during the extension period; instead, they will be eligible for retail credit or “a different product of equal or lesser value.”
Refunds are also issued to customers who used Ulta gift cards to purchase goods.
Additionally, gift cards themselves cannot be returned.
This also holds true for one-time use coupons.
HOLIDAY RETURNS EXTENDED
The following retailers have modified their return policies for Christmas:
Amazon: For items purchased between November 1 and December 31, 2024, the customary 30-day return window has been extended until January 31, 2025. However, the cutoff date for returning Apple merchandise is January 15, 2025.
Walmart: Items bought online or in-store between October 1 and December 31, 2024, may be returned by customers until January 31, 2025.
Target: Most electronics and entertainment items bought between November 7 and December 24 may be returned by customers until January 24, 2025. However, the cutoff date for Apple, Beat, and mobile phones is January 8, 2025.
Best Buy: Many products purchased between November 1 and December 31, 2024, must be returned by January 14, 2025. Holiday decorations can be returned by customers within 15 days, however activated gadgets, like cell phones, have a 15-day return policy.
The complete specifics of return policies can be found on the websites of different retailers, as product-specific dates may differ.
Customers who have a gift receipt are also not permitted to return items to Ulta “for the purpose of repurchasing and applying a coupon, special offer, and/or Ulta Beauty Rewards points.”
Additionally, wigs, hair extensions, personal wellness products, and Mini Brands capsules purchased at an Ulta salon are non-returnable.
‘TIS THE SEASON
A Christmas extension for returns has also been implemented by rivals like Sephora.
Ulta’s extension and Amazon’s are nearly the same, with a few minor variations.
Walmart, Target, and Best Buy have also followed suit.
