DEBARYLIFE – A horrific night in the Big Apple resulted in the intentional setting of a fire in Brooklyn that left an elderly man dead, according to investigators. Five people were injured in different instances during the same night.

Around 11:15 p.m. on Friday, authorities said that the 70-year-old victim’s body was found in a bedroom at 371 Monroe St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant. A 65-year-old woman was rushed to Woodhull Hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.

The FDNY fire marshal concluded the fire was started on purpose; nevertheless, the cause of death will be ascertained by the city medical examiner.

In the fire investigation, the woman was being questioned, according to a law enforcement source. The probe is still going on.

In front of 140 Moore St. in Williamsburg, a male, 21, was shot in the head less than an hour later. Elmhurst Hospital declared him dead.

Later, another male, twenty, claimed to have been shot on the same street when he entered Woodhull Hospital with gunshot graze wounds to his legs, head, and ear, according to police. Nothing has been arrested.

A lady was shot in the neck at 1:10 a.m. on Saturday in Brownsville, Brooklyn, in the 2100 block of Union Street, according to police.

At Brookdale Hospital, the 19-year-old victim’s condition was stable. Nothing has been arrested.

A 27-year-old woman was attacked by two other women who were carrying a knife and a gun shortly after two in the morning on Saturday in front of 1881 Walton Ave. in Mount Hope, according to police.

St. Barnabas Hospital reported her status to be stable. Nothing has been arrested.

A 19-year-old guy was shot in the back in East Harlem at around 2:30 in the morning while strolling along the 1900 block of Park Avenue. According to police, the man’s condition at Harlem Hospital was stable after the incident. Nothing has been arrested.

Police reported that a person was taken into custody after the 37-year-old victim passed away at St. Barnabas.
