Unidentified Shooting On Interstate 83 Sparks State Police Investigation, What Is The Reason!
DEBARYLIFE – A family of three may have suffered significant injuries in a gunshot incident on Interstate 83 on Sunday, and state police are looking for answers.
PA — York County Authorities say the occupants of a Dodge Durango registered in Maryland are fortunate to be alive after a gunshot went through the back window of the vehicle while a family of three was inside.
According to Trooper James Grothey of the Pennsylvania State Police, “one and a half-year-old baby was in the backseat in a car seat, and they were traveling southbound in the area of the Market Street exit when something came crashing through the back of the windshield.”
The family was going home to Maryland on Sunday when the event occurred at mile marker 18.8, shortly after 4:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival at the scene, Pennsylvania State Police found that the bullet had also hit the driver’s front windshield and rearview mirror.
To learn that it was a bullet, Trooper Grothey stated, “It could have definitely hit somebody and struck them and killed them.”
It is uncertain if the incident was the result of road rage or not, and no one was injured.

Trooper Grothey stated, “We’re investigating every possibility, including the possibility that it originated from a different car or a backyard shooter.”
To find out what kind of gun fired the bullet, tests are anticipated to be conducted in Harrisburg.
Along with looking for any video footage from neighboring home cameras, investigators are also in contact with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to get further details.
Police continue to advise people to drive carefully to prevent potentially deadly situations, even if there has been no confirmation of road rage.
Trooper Grothey said, “In the end, slow down, try to let that person pass you, get around you, if you have to pull off on an exit, do everything you can to get away from that vehicle and immediately, as soon as you can, call 911.”
Anyone with information is urged to give the state police a call at 717-428-1011 to speak with them directly.
