USPS trucks ‘to be axed and replaced with new fleet in big U-turn in 2025’ as Trump ‘set to cancel $3 billion plan’

Donald Trump is allegedly planning to terminate mail truck contracts, endangering the environmentally friendly future of the US Postal Service.

Multibillion-dollar contracts for at least 66,000 EV delivery vans and charging stations were recently revealed by the postal service.

According to Reuters, Trump is considering ways to revoke the USPS’s new contracts when he assumes office on January 20.

Given that the trucks were already in production due to agreements with Ford and Oshkosh, the significant shift to electric delivery trucks was only brought to light in October.

“We’re making progress in updating our fleet of vehicles, which will have a significant positive impact on our organization,” stated Postmaster General Louis DeJoy at the time.

“The introduction of these new vehicles aligns with our operational strategy and financial health, setting us up for a future of improved service across the nation.”

With $3 billion from Congress, the USPS aimed to create one of the biggest EV fleets in the country by 2028.

Trump, however, intends to reverse the ruling and return to gas-powered automobiles.
