FOX 2: OWOSSO, Mich.According to officials, a guy who planned to shoot and murder LGBT people entered a guilty plea this week.

Owosso resident Mack Davis, 22, acknowledged that he was plotting shootings against a bar and political party offices because he connected those establishments to LGBTQ+ individuals.

Plotting the mass shooting

Court filings reveal that Davis dedicated almost a year to studying mass homicides, writing about them, and honoring the murderers. As he began organizing his own mass murder, he also wrote about these murders in journals and on items in his house.

He intended to compile a list of his weapons and tactical equipment, as well as the items he would need to carry out the killings. Authorities claim that by this June, Davis had completed all of the tasks on his list, which began in July 2023.

According to federal authorities, Davis had assorted bomb-making components, smoke grenades, tactical gear and apparel, two firearms, magazines, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, a crossbow and arrows, and multiple knives, one of which with the words “f***** killer” etched on it. These things were discovered when his house was searched.

Authorities claim that Davis spray-painted a slur on his gay neighbors’ cars as part of his plot for the shootings.

A few days later, Davis allegedly test-fired a short-barreled rifle, blasting about 60 rounds into the homes of several of his neighbors. Around 60 bullets were fired, and hit several vehicles, including those belonging to the neighbors targeted with slurs.

Police examined Davis’ home after confirming that the gunfire originated there and discovered his writings about mass shooters and his plans to carry out a mass shooting.

According to court documents, Davis admitted to vandalizing his neighbors’ vehicles and possessing a short-barrel rifle that he modified, but he denied planning a mass shooting.

Owosso police took him into custody before transferring him to federal custody.

Davis could be imprisoned for up to life.
